Head Coach & Aquatics Director
Cory Kephart brings more than 30 years of coaching experience to his new role as the Head Swimming Coach at Trinity Preparatory School, following a highly successful collegiate coaching career.
Most recently, Kephart served as the Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach at Wheeling University from 2022 to 2025. During his tenure, he helped reestablish both programs following a multi-year hiatus, guiding them to competitive prominence within the Mountain East Conference (MEC). In the 2024–25 season, the Wheeling women’s team posted a 9-7 record—their best since 2014–15—and finished third among MEC teams at the GMAC/MEC Championships. Under his leadership, Gabby Baiano was named MEC Swimmer of the Year, and Grace Moorley earned MEC Freshman of the Year honors.
The men’s team also saw unprecedented growth, fielding their largest roster since 2016–17 and achieving their highest conference championship finish since the program’s return. Standout swimmer Jiwh Santos became the team’s first All-MEC honoree, earning Honorable Mention in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.
In the 2022–23 season, Kephart led the Wheeling men to their first dual meet win since the program's reinstatement, and helped produce the university’s first relay team in several years. On the women’s side, Jade Miller claimed two individual MEC titles under his guidance, while Baiano earned Freshman of the Year honors and set a new Wheeling pool record in the 1650 freestyle.
Kephart began his coaching career at his alma mater, Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he made an immediate impact as one of the youngest coaches in NCAA Division II. He led Gannon’s first-ever national qualifiers and All-Americans, earning two All-American and six Honorable Mention honors during his tenure.
In 1996, Kephart transitioned to the role of Aquatics Director at the Long Center in Clearwater, Florida, while continuing to coach high school swimmers to state-level success, including a Florida state champion at Clearwater Central Catholic. After relocating to Orlando, he shifted to club coaching, producing multiple Florida Age Group (FLAG) champions, high school state qualifiers, and collegiate-level athletes. He also served as Florida LSC's head zone coach.
Prior to joining Trinity Prep, Kephart led Bishop Moore High School’s girls’ swim team to both district and regional championships, with several athletes qualifying for the Florida State Meet.
Kephart and his wife Jennifer both swam at Gannon University. Their three children are collegiate swimmers: Austin at Salem University, Wesley at the University of Pittsburgh, and Ashley at the University of North Florida, where she holds a school record.
